Museum of Illusions
I was so impressed with how much fun this museum was. Even for 20 year olds, we got to check out room after room of illusions and take awesome pictures. I definitely recommend this unexpected highlight!

Museum of Contemporary Art
My host and I spent a fun couple of hours at this museum, checking out local art displays. I don’t know anything about art, unlike my colleague, but we got some nice pictures!

Freestyle Club
Belgrade is known for its active nightlife, so really spending the night at the club is a part of the culture. I went with my great Serbian friend, Jovana, and she showed me the ropes. To know what type of music is playing at the top clubs in the city, locals use this website. You should reserve seats at the bar for 11:30 at the earliest. We missed our reservation and walked in at 12:20, but after a reasonable line we were let in. I am told that the clubs are empty until midnight.
Dancing culture in a Serbian club is also different from America. Men and women stand around, maybe nod their head to the music, and look beautiful. Men also outnumber women 10:1. As fun as looking beautiful sounds, I could not bring myself to embrace this part of the culture, and went ahead and danced freely anyway. Jovana said the uninhibited dancing made the club more fun than ever, so I encourage you to follow suit!

Rent a Bike
On a hot day, my host Jovana and I rented bikes and rode around the beautiful Lake Ada. The lake has rocky shores, but plenty of cafes, ice cream, and space to sunbathe. And the water is super clean!
We then took the bike on a ferry across the Sava river and biked around the other bank of Belgrade, enjoying lunch with swans on the Danube river.

Black Sheep Ice Cream
According to the local Serbians, Crna Ovca, or “Black Sheep,” is hands down the best ice cream in Belgrade. I can’t say I disagree! They are known for their unique flavors, all fresh and in-house.
