After the Camino, my mother will be returning home, but I will continue my trip further into Europe. For the second leg of my time abroad, I will need more materials, including city clothes and a daypack. Although everything fit into my 45L carry on bag, this extra 12 pounds (6 kilos) was not something I was willing to carry across Spain.
In Santiago de Compostela, at the end of the pilgrimage, a man named Ivar has started a service of holding packages until you can catch up with them. The UPS company called “Mailboxes & Etc” opened at 9am on Monday in Pamplona near our hostel, and for 16€ I was able to purchase and send a box of stuff to Ivar. I anticipate paying an additional 20€ for Ivar to hold it, and 5€ for it to be delivered to my hostel in Santiago de Compostela. 3-4 days before I arrive at my final hostel, all I have to do is send him an email to inform him that I will be arriving, and pay via PayPal.
Let’s hope all goes to plan!
