On average, municipal Albergues cost 5€ and private Albergues cost 10€, and there are plenty of each all along The Way. Depending on the albergue, amenities can vary, so it is good to know what amenities you need and ask about them when choosing a place to stay for the night. Private Albergues are generally better equipped than municipals, but they are ultimately quite similar. Generally, there are bunk beds in shared rooms and gender separate showers with hot water. Sometimes there is a kitchen - definitely use this if you can! There are also usually laundry facilities that allow you to hand-wash laundry, a place to air dry laundry, and often washing/drying machines that cost 2-4€ each. If you need heat or blankets for a particularly cold night, make sure to ask! Municipals are less likely to have these and probably will not be heated. Here are some pictures of different 5€ beds we had:
Most beds had plastic lining, and we had no problems with bed bugs at all. It sounds like the authorities have become very strict on that matter - for example, at all Albergues boots are kept in a separate room and backpacks never touch the beds. Albergues are not always heated but the usually offer blankets, so it may be worth asking. Here are pictures of some of the kitchens we used:
